Thank You

As I say in the About page, I’m a big fan of Bing and their daily wallpapers. The new background images are something I look forward to seeing every day. However, I’m going to be stopping updates to the site. It’s been a lot of fun getting it up and running and maintaining it over time but I feel it’s served it’s purpose of teaching me programming skills and how to maintain a site. Thank you very much for your support as it’s been an enjoyable journey and learning experience. I recommend, the official gallery, as a good resource moving forward. Cheers.

    1. Hi, thanks for the kind note and that’s a good point about the official gallery being for the US images. As smkaskel noted below, you can go to and then select a different country by using the settings option in the upper right to see other regions background images.

        1. Unless you have an older Internet Explorer browser where you still have access to IE8 or earlier, the easiest way to download the Bing background photos is by using the Mozilla Firefox browser. Simply go to on the Firefox browser, right-click the image, select View Background Image, and then right-click again and select Save Image As.

  1. Hello,
I´m very sad that you finished to post the images. I hope that you come back soon. Now I have a question:
when you post there are images from Bing India, Japan, China France and others countries but in the site I
can´t find images from that countries. Where I can find these pictures?
    Thank you

    1. Go to Click the menu symbol in the upper right corner of the page. Then, under Settings, select Country/Region, and choose the country.

    1. Those vertical images are very cool and I like them especially for using on my phone for a background. They are usually available for all images. Here are the steps:
      1. Go to the XML file for the country you like:

      2. Get the path to the image of the day for that region:

      3. Replace the resolution with the resolution you want. So then it becomes:

Hope that works well and thanks again.

  2. I would like to thank you for your fine website. I am saddened that you will no longer be able to update the site. The Bing background photos have been a great source of enjoyment and a valuable educational resource for myself and my family for many years. Your website has been of great assistance in helping me save these beautiful photos. There is, however, one very specific type of photo that I still cannot figure out how to download except from your website. It is a simple matter to download the 1920 x 1200 version with the Bing logo by clicking the ‘Download today’s image’ link on the page. But on days when there is also a video available, such as the rosefinch photo on 3/28 or the Chinese waterfall on 3/22, instead of a ‘Download today’s image’ link, there is a message on the page saying ‘This image is not available to download as wallpaper’. But on your website, the 1920 x 1200 images with the Bing logo of these photos are usually available, including these two photos. How and where can I find and download these images? I would greatly appreciate your reply. Thank you.

    1. Thanks for the compliment and I’m glad it’s been useful for you as much as it’s been fun for me. The images are found using the site’s RSS or XML feed. For example, you can see the XML file that bing publishes for each region here:

You can then see the file path of the default image:

So then you can put the other resolutions in place of the resolution above. For example:

Hope that helps. It’s pretty neat to see all the other markets too. For example, you can replace en-US in the first link with fr-FR to see the images from France:

      1. Thanks for your prompt reply. My question, however, only pertained to downloading the 1920×1200 photo on days when there is a video. On those days, for example on 3/28 when there was a Chinese goldfinch video, the file path is in a different format. Instead of being in this format:
(and I can readily change the resolution in this format file path to obtain either a 1920×1080 or 1920×1200 photo)
        the file path is:
This results in a 1920×1080 photo. How do I get the 1920×1200 photo?

  3. Thanks for all the work you put in this project, I downloaded lots of wallpapers from this site, so thank you so much.
I wish you the best for your future projects, cheers!

  4. Thanks for developing/maintaining your site all these years! I was a daily visitor. Great job!

Is there any way you could upload your source/scripts that automatically retrieve the images from Bing? That’d be great for those of us who’d like to keep downloading them daily. Perhaps dropbox/github.

    Thanks again!

  5. Thank you for maintaining excellent site for these years!
    I am also a bing-wallpaper collector.
    I have some question
1-I’ve found some of your vertical edition wallpapers(such as 1080*1920) contained watermark of bing, but the vertical edition wallpapers I collected from bing official website didn’t contain watermark. So, could you help me to find the vertical edition wallpapers which contain watermark?
2-Some of the wallpapers(1920*1200) of someday ONLY contain english bing watermark editions, but there are not chinese editions from offical website, however, these chinese editions appear in your site.
for example, the wallpaper of worldwide of 2017.02.25 is LagoaMisteriosa_ROW14046848388_1920x1200.jpg, there is ONLY english bing watermark edition on offical website, but your site contains both of english and chinese bing watermark editions. Could you tell me how to find chinese bing watermark edition?

    1. I hope the folowing helps: All 1920×1200 images downloaded from will have a bing logo (“watermark”). If you are downloading from any country/region other than China, the logo will always be in English. If you are downloading from the China country/region, sometimes the logo will be in English and sometimes it will be in Chinese. If you want to know how to find the China country/region image, see my 4/1/2017 06:57 post above.
